Who we are

Sagetor ("we", "us") is an independent consultancy based in Australia, working with clients locally and internationally. This policy describes how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information in connection with this website and our services. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as a matter of practice. If you are outside Australia, see "If you are in the EU or the UK" below.

What we collect

We collect personal information you choose to give us, by email or in a message composed through a form on this site: your name, organisation, role, email address, country or region, the details of your enquiry, any timeframe or budget information you provide, and how you heard about us. We do not ask for, and request that you do not send, sensitive personal information through the contact form or by email.

Expressions of interest

The careers page invites people to register interest in working with us. That form collects your name, email address, location, the area of work you are interested in, a link to a profile, portfolio or CV if you choose to give one, and your own description of the work you do best. It reaches us the same way as any other message from this site, described under "Forms and third-party processing" below.

We use those details only to consider you for work, and we contact you only about that. They are held in a private register, reviewed when an engagement calls for additional capability, and kept for up to two years unless you ask us to remove them sooner. You can ask us to delete them at any time by writing to enquiries@sagetor.com.

Please do not send us information about your health, background or personal circumstances unless it is genuinely relevant to the work. Where you do choose to tell us something of that kind, we treat it as sensitive information, use it only for the purpose you gave it to us for, and delete it on request.

How we use it

We use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry, assess whether we can help, and, if an engagement follows, to deliver our services and manage the client relationship. We do not sell personal information, use it for unrelated marketing, or add you to mailing lists without your consent.

Website analytics

This website uses no analytics and sets no cookies. It stores nothing on your device and does not track you between visits or across other sites. If we introduce analytics, this section will be rewritten to name the tool, say what it records and state whether it uses cookies, before that tool is used.

Forms and third-party processing

No third-party form service currently receives your form data. The contact and careers forms on this site are not connected to any form-processing service, and pressing Send does not transmit anything to us.

What happens instead is this. Your browser assembles the details you have typed into a message and hands it to whatever email program your device is set up to use. You can then edit or discard it, and it reaches us only if you choose to send it, to enquiries@sagetor.com. If your device is set up to use a web-based mail service such as Gmail or Outlook on the web, the contents of the message are passed to that service at the moment the message opens, under its terms rather than ours. You are equally welcome to write to us directly without using a form.

Once your message reaches us it is held in our email system, which is hosted and delivered by third-party providers located outside Australia. They process it on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. If we ever connect a form service, this section will be rewritten to say so before that service is used.

If where your information is held matters to your organisation, say so before an engagement begins. We can look into the arrangement and change it as a condition of the engagement, including moving to onshore hosting or to a provider you nominate.

Storage and security

Enquiry and client information is held in our email and file systems, which are protected by access controls and multi-factor authentication and reachable only by the Principals and anyone they have engaged for the work. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. We keep enquiry and client information for as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or for as long as the law requires, and then delete it.

Disclosure

We do not disclose personal information to anyone except the providers who help us run the practice, where you have consented, or where disclosure is required or authorised by law. Those providers include the third parties who host this website and host and deliver our email. They process information on our behalf and only for that purpose. Some of them, and some of the storage they use, are located outside Australia, which means information you send us may be handled overseas. If that matters to your organisation, raise it before an engagement begins: we can look into the arrangement and change it as a condition of the engagement.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we have no continuing need or obligation to keep it, or ask us to stop using it. Email enquiries@sagetor.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request, so that we do not disclose someone's information to the wrong person.

If something goes wrong

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, tell us first at enquiries@sagetor.com. We will acknowledge it within five business days and give you a written answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can raise the matter with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992, or with the privacy regulator in your own country.

If you are in the EU or the UK

You have additional rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Email us and we will action them within one month. Where you have given us information so that we can respond to your enquiry, we rely on that request as the basis for handling it; for the careers register we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Sagetor is based in Australia and your information is handled here, so sending us an enquiry involves a transfer outside the EU and the UK. If you would rather not do that, please do not send us personal information through this site.
